Welcome to Jinju International Forum on Entrepreneurship!

South Korea is known for its unique experience of having turned itself from a developing nation to a developed one within a relatively short period of time. South Korea is one of the world’s top 10 exporters in 2023, and it achieved an export volume of $648 billion, showcasing its status as a global export powerhouse. The remarkable economic growth of South Korea has been made possible through the efforts of the government, people, and all business, but particular attention should be given to entrepreneurship having served as the engine of innovative growth. The founders of South Korea’s global giants like Samsung, LG, GS, and Hyosung, who were pivotal to the country’s remarkable economic growth, commonly upheld the entrepreneurial values known as ‘K-Entrepreneurship’ that originated in Jinju, a small city located in the Southeastern part of Korea. This spirit emphasizes, among other things, respect for humanity, community values, and social responsibility.

With this background, Jinju City is holding the ‘Jinju International Forum’ to discuss and promote on the international level the role of entrepreneurship in achieving economic and social development, with a view to contributing to global sustainability. This year, Jinju International Forum, with the theme of ‘Entrepreneurship for a Sustainable Future’, aims to address the crises and challenges faced by our world, such as the digital transformation, climate change, deepening inequality, and economic disruptions. By sharing successful cases of entrepreneurship as well as lessons learned in the processes, the Forum seeks to discuss the new roles and dissemination of entrepreneurial spirit.

The Forum will highlight the importance of corporate social responsibility and entrepreneurship for the economic development and sustainable future of each country and region, aiming to further build up global cooperation and networks. Additionally, the Forum will review and explore the cases of Korean entrepreneurship for sustainability, investigating how South Korean companies have exercised their entrepreneurial spirit in advancing into the global market during the last several decades.

We aim to highlight the importance of entrepreneurship to the world, connect academic advancements with achievements through the sharing of the latest research results on entrepreneurship, and provide practical advice for sustainable growth through the experiences and insights of entrepreneurs active on the global stage. We invite scholars and experts in entrepreneurship, business leaders, startup founders, students, and various participants from all corners of the globe to the “Jinju International Forum on Entrepreneurship” to establish networks, expand information exchange and create collaboration opportunities.
